I've run operations, helped people learn how to do operations, and now I validate the people doing the operations. That layered experience is why the work is different — and why it gets used.
Setpoint Advisors exists because the gap between consulting theory and operational reality is large — and expensive. Most clients don't need a firm with a polished methodology deck. They need someone who has stood on a production floor, worked the material, and understands what the regulations actually require at the point of execution.
Before launching this firm, Griffin McGuire owned and operated Residential Metals, a custom metal fabrication business, for nearly three years — managing production, quality assurance, materials procurement, logistics, and vendor and client relationships from the ground up. Before that, he worked as a fabricator and passivation specialist performing GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW on stainless steel for pharmaceutical and food production clients in highly regulated environments, and as a production welder fabricating aluminum and steel assemblies.
That foundation expanded into adjacent territory over time — CNC machine builds and precision subassemblies, electronics and microcontroller work, data center infrastructure fabrication, orbital GTAW on high-purity stainless, and the engineering polymer and additive work that shows up when a design calls for something outside a standard shop's frame of reference. The fabrication consulting practice at Setpoint Advisors draws on that full range, with a particular focus on semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, and specialty materials clients.
In parallel, Setpoint Advisors provides assessment development and SME services for eLearning platforms, publishers, certification bodies, and academic programs — operating under the Academic & Training Services practice area. The same floor experience that informs every consulting engagement informs every assessment question. As 2nd Vice Chair of the AWS Niagara Frontier Section (District 6), Griffin works directly with young welding professionals, students, and apprenticeship programs across the region — work that also anchors the Workforce Development practice, which provides validated talent profiles for manufacturers hiring skilled tradespeople.
Setpoint Advisors is based in Western New York and serves clients locally and remotely across the United States.
What this means for your project: Publishers and platforms get an SME who has done the actual work — not someone who has only read the standards. Manufacturers get a consultant who can walk your floor and spot what a desk auditor misses. And when a candidate profile says shop-floor ready, it's because the person doing the evaluating has run the same equipment.
Every service Setpoint Advisors offers is grounded in the same credential — real time on the floor, doing the work. That's what makes the consulting credible, the assessments accurate, and the talent profiles worth paying for.

An SOP nobody reads is worthless. A training assessment that doesn't reflect real work is useless. A candidate profile that's vague is a waste of money. Everything we deliver is written to be acted on.
